Local walks

Immediately in front of the house and over the famous Dunsford Stepping Stones is Bridford Wood owned by the National Trust. There are numerous wonderful local walks for all abilities and all distances throughout the wood and surrounding countryside linking up with:

Steps Bridge and the glorious route to Castle Drogo and other local National Trust walks (Fisherman’s and Huntsman’s Walks from Fingle Bridge and Drewsteignton)

Bridford Village (with its fine ales and country pub) and Heltor Rocks and Blackinstone Rocks

Shorter Walks

Other local shorter walks using Dunsford Parish footpaths are at hand and invariably end up at or route by or near The Royal Oak Village Pub situated next to the Post Office/Shop and Village Church

If you wish to explore further along the Teign Valley linking in with other Villages via Sowton Mill or Bridford Wood – then Christow, Dodiscombesleigh, Ashton, Trusham and Hennock are all accessible.

In the other direction there are routes towards and to Mortonhampstead a lovely Moorland Stannary Town with shops and other places.
